Script
For our script, we went with the stereotypical idea of having not much dialogue but basing it off of soundtrack to create more atmosphere to the scene and make it seem spookier. In our script there are very short dialogue speeches, but mostly throughout it is just soundtrack only and body language.
Aaron is the more confident character in this scenario, so he takes lead when it comes to speech and says the most whereas Damian only says one thing.
Aaron’s lines for speech are:
‘It’s a dangerous place, let’s go’ shot 10
‘Look it’s there’ shot 31, followed by Damian responding with ‘Where?’ at shot 32, then Aaron replies with ‘I swear down…’ for shot 33. These are all together in a period of filming.
‘You’re going to need this’ shot 35
‘How, why?’ shot 42
A lot of our speech is kept short and simple so that the soundtrack remains the dominant sound and still creates the atmosphere without much interruption. There is a lot of use of facial expression and acting to replace the need for dialogue, while still telling the story.
